It's pretty windy in the greater Salina area just now.
Unless it dies, don't be surprised if launch doesn't
happen today.
Also, I don't think this craft has taken off with a
full fuel load before. As with Voyager (which scraped
off a winglet on takeoff), the departure could be, um,
interesting.

To be a true non-stop flight, he'd have to never land again.

Well, granted that George Carlin hasn't come down since 1968, but that's not quite what I meant.

What's with all the parked airliners? Davis-Monthan? Mohave airport, CA. Home of Rutan. Many airlines train their pilots there due to good Wx. Also a nice, dry place to store excess airliners.

Wow. I hope he's got some good strategies for dealing with the extreme sleep deprivation he's gonna get. Reading about Dick Rutan's airborne hallucinations and Charles Lindbergh's similar problems, it's (IMO) the major danger he faces.
I got to meet Jeana Yeager a few times, and some of the mid-flight gremlins they faced were astounding.

A recent issue of AOPA Pilot described the hallucinations that Dick Tutan experienced during one of his record-setting flights here on the west coast ... one of the gremlins was telling him just to give up and crash - they would take care of him. Nasty stuff.

dealing with the extreme sleep deprivation He appears to be energetic and willful. He should be fine. It's an adventure and dangerous, and if he fails at least he gave it his best.
Unlike the late Gonzo Journalist.
