We had a couple of Hmong on my soccer team in the early eighties. Neither could read or write. One had some numbers tattooed on him supposedly from when he was a slave in Laos or Cambodia or some place. Neither of them knew their birthdays so the coaches had to do some kind of something to prove they were eligible to play in the under nineteen league. Both were great players though and nice guys. We have a large Asian population (Vietnamese, Cambodians, and Laotians) and most of them are good people. When they all first came here in the seventies they worked all the crappy jobs the Mexicans are working now. A lot of the Asians now own businesses and so on. They seem to be very industrious people. And I have to say I hated it when they were in my math classes in high school because they seemed to always set the curve high. They weren't very good at English, but man could they crunch numbers.

IMO it's the fault of liberal do gooders and poor government planning.

It's insanely irresponsible to plunk a huge group of third worlders in a community, hand them everything they need and expect to have no problem with assimilation.
