Judge deserves our admiration
Re: Quiet judge persists in Schiavo maelstrom.
Judges do not make the laws. They are charged with interpreting them. Hearing and evaluating critical evidence can be immensely difficult, particularly when the issues involve an incapacitated human being, such as Terri Schiavo. Judges are not free to discuss matters pending before their courts, or to defend their rulings.
The propriety of Judge George W. Greer's judicial performance in the Schiavo dispute is evident in the decisions of the appellate court rulings, all determining that Judge Greer has rightly applied the law to Ms. Schiavo's case. Judge Greer has been dutifully carrying out his responsibilities like the skilled professional he is.
I am moved to express my admiration for Judge Greer, and for his sense of duty.
