TX also has some liberal "Republican" judges of that stripe. But in FL, the judges are elected on nonpartisan ballot. So many in Pinellas Co. would not have known that Greer is "Republican" unless they recalled his service in the 1980s as a county commissioner. In TX all judges except municipal judges are elected on partisan ballots. You're right about voters being uninformed.

According to my local source there in Pinellas County, the local GOP headquarters did a mass mailing in supprt of Judge Greer in his re-election last August, solely because he is registered as a Republican. I am still trying to find out how many were sent, but it may have been hundreds of thousands. I checked and although this is unethical, it is not illegal, but it is immoral and surely a violation of the Republican pro-life platform.
