If DCF capitulates to George W. Greer, wouldn't it be seen statewide as having lost face, something state agencies always avoid, even if they are wrong on an issue? The DCF should take custody as soon as Greer rebuffs it, and he surely will rebuff it Thursday.

But, do we know what day they actually began their investigation? If they're waiting for Greer's ruling before they begin and he tells them no, they should take her the morning of the 18th, that will give Terri max time, and allow the legislature more time to work.

I agree with you. The DCF MUST NOT wait for new state or federal laws to be enacted. When Greer attempts to take away their legal mandate, they MUST respond directly to his action.
They MUST get Terri and place her under protective custody, right after Greer lets the shoe drop.

I think you are right, that DCF won't roll over. For one thing, if they go away quietly in the Terri Schiavo case, that is going to be thrown in their faces every time they don't back down (i.e., you let Terri Schiavo starve to death, but you're removing middle class kids from their parents' houses...")

Does DCF come under the direct authority of Gov. Bush and can he claim an executive order, mandating them to take custody?
