Gotta work on lotsa stuff at the same time, multi tasking...

Let's at least get the Florida House Health Care Committee to approve this, get it out of committee

EVERYONE.. THE MEETING IS TODAY WEDNESDAY DO THIS NOW...
http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/f-news/1352657/posts?page=3497#3497

Here is what I wrote:

Mr. Garcia,

I am and American citizen living in France.

I wish to offer my input into the committee meeting on HB 701

A Feeding Tube should not be considered as Artificial Life Support.

My cousin has had a feeding tube since he was born, and he is now 20 years old.

You only connect when you eat. The rest of the time, you are not connected to anything.

Many disabled people require feeding tubes in order to receive nourishment.

Food and Hydration are the basics to life, and should be classified as “Ordinary Care”

Not Extraordinary Artificial Life Support.

Unless a person has a written request (my father has one and he HAS requested to not be fed if he can’t eat himself)

We, meaning we society, should not deny anyone food and hydration, unless they has requested this in writing.

Although my father has requested starvation in a certain set of circumstances, I have in my living will, that I WANT to be fed.

Food and Water are basic to life and a feeding tube is placing the food into the stomach, instead of the mouth.

Plenty of people are spoon fed, fed by hand, the feeding tubes are for convenience of the nursing staff.

Please change Florida Law so that disabled people are not starved to death in Florida.

One last thing, this is getting very bad press in France. Americans are being portrayed as barbaric.

In France they love their food and drink and would not consider involuntarily starving people to death.

More salient points. People in Spain and other parts of the world are watching as well as France. They are also calling as well to let them know their disgust at their wishy washyness and not realizing that they are going back down the road of Nazi Germany. If anything is headed for a train wreck let it be the side which seeks to snuff out the most vulnerable and disabled, etc. who either cannot speak for themselves because they truly can't or who have been denied their voice purposely because of others trying outright to accomplish murder upon them seeminly under color of law. It is obvious why the death interests are scared because they don't want INFORMED CONSENT. for total domination they need to be able to get rid of the most vulnerable and disabled, and injured right away! after they have fleeced them of their money or have money waiting in the wings because of their schemes. These death interests are worse than the very dregs of humanity. Can they even be compared to the very dregs?

I'd love to see some links to the coverage.

What's happening to Terri in Florida is barbaric. If we as a nation allow it, then the US is becoming a barbaric nation, and the French press would be right.

PETITION TO DISCONTINUE CONSIDERATION OF HOUSE BILL 0523 AND SENATE BILL 0988 IN FLORIDA LEGISLATURE
http://www.flsenate.gov/data/session/2005/House/bills/billtext/pdf/h0523.pdf

TO: Members of Florida House and Senate

We, the undersigned, hereby respectfully request that Florida Lawmakers immediately discontinue any further consideration of pre-filed Bills titled HB 0523 and SB 0988 (An act relating to evidence; repealing s. 90.602, F.S., relating to testimony of interested persons regarding oral communication with a deceased or mentally incompetent person).

WHEREAS The undersigned petitioners are citizens of the great State of Florida, advocates for the disabled community, advocates of patient’s retained rights under state and federal statutes and interested parties to Florida’s laws as they pertain to the protections of vulnerable, elderly and disabled citizens, and

WHEREAS The introduction of House Bill 0523 and Senate Bill 0988 will effectively eliminate necessary legal protection of incapacitated individuals against conflicted guardians, heirs apparent, heirs in fact and beneficiaries in legal proceedings that determine the incapacitated person’s medical treatment desires and financial management of property, and

WHEREAS House Bill 0523 and Senate Bill 0988 creates an instant and tangible conflict of interest for guardians and interested parties of incapacitated individuals, and

WHEREAS House Bill 0523 and Senate Bill 0988 creates ambiguity with regards to clear and convincing evidence as it relates to the intentions, medical treatment care desires and personal interests of incapacitated persons:

We, the undersigned, ask that you immediately and expediently deny and consideration of these bills and further that you immediately and expediently deny consideration of any filed and pre-filed bills that would limit legal protections of Florida’s vulnerable, disabled and elderly citizens.

HB 523, amending the Dead Man's Statute, is a BAD bill and makes it easier to recall and have admitted into evidence those 10 yr-old "wishes" of the incapacitated person that are now driving the Schiavo case.

Florida folks also need to PHONE, E-MAIL and FAX members of the Florida House and Florida Senate in opposition of this bill, 523. And do it repeatedly.
