Here is something you can tell them.
I am writing to ask your support for US Congress, Bill No. 1151 (HB701 if writing to Florida senators and representatives).
I truly hope you will not allow it to spend weeks in committee and more pork added to it than one can find on a Nebraska hog farm.
Not only is this bill important to Terri Schiavo, but believe it or not, many of our returning servicemen are coming back with brain damage. Flack jackets prevent them from being killed most of the time, but wounds to the face and neck can and do cause brain damage. The precedent being set by the judiciary in Florida will make these men extremely vulnerable to being killed by request. Can YOU ask a man to fight if he knows he might return home to be starved and dehydrated to death.
Likewise, a large number of retirees throughout the nation have made themselves wards of phased care retirement centers in exchange for their assets. Money is a powerful motivator. These retirees may live in different states than their families, having moved to places like Arizona, New Mexico, Texas, Mississippi, and Florida. Their families might not even know if the retirement center found an unscrupulous medical technician to call them PVS and then petitioned the judiciary to put them to death by starvation/dehydration.
This nation currently has approximately 7 to 9 embargoes against nation states for violations of human rights. They are WATCHING carefully to see whether the United States of America will actually permit the judiciary to starve and dehydrate a citizen (committing genocide) to death, who has not committed any crime. How can we ever demand human rights for other countries if we ourselves deny them to our own CITIZENS. They will laugh at us and your commercial embargo will have no teeth because other countries will simply supply them directly or indirectly or buy the goods, label it as their own, and sell it to us while they are laughing at us too!
NO ONE IN THE UNITED STATES SHOULD BE STARVED/DEHYDRATED TO DEATH FOR ANY REASON.
