I do have a problem with this post. I never believe God is vindictive in any way, God grants us free will. Nature is as free will as it gets.

God Himself isn't vindictive but man can walk out from under HIS protection. He has given man a FREE will. Man can accept God or reject him.

God flooded the earth because of sin. He sent plagues upon the Egyptians because of the hardness of Pharoah's heart. He gave Jonah a ride in the belly of a fish because of sin.

While no one can know for sure if a natural disaster is God trying to get our attention, none of us can say for sure it isn't.
