So true. Leno basically turned the Tonight Show into a bland, slick, predictable forum for entertainers to hawk their latest movie, TV show or CD. Carson's Tonight was like an ongoing party and you seldom knew who was going to pop up there, or what was going to happen. Quite often, a guest would show up ostensibly to promote a new movie, and the conversation would be about everything but the movie.
