This has gone far, far beyond what was intended as a trade union.

IMO, they will regret this very soon.

One would hope GB sees through this French attempt at regaining the power it has longed for.

Exactly, France and Germany are seeking to do (control Europe) by treaty what they could not otherwise do by force of arms or economic might.
