Why are staffordshire terriers lumped in with pit bulls? Are they not two different breeds?
Apparently they are, since there are no casualties resulting from it.
There is no pit bull breed as far as I know. It's just a moniker that's used for the American Pit Bull Terrier, Staffordshire Terrier, and American Staffordshire Terrier.
These dogs like any breeds can be mishandled and misbred. I used to discriminate against them, having only read about them in the paper. I now own two dogs and APBT and a mini-dachshund....guess which one is the aggressive dog. I've own many different breeds of dogs....and the axiom is true. All dogs can bite. My previous dog was an English Springer Spaniel....completely docile around us. I had her at a reputable kennel and they were convinced she had a rage impulse.
I'm now completely enamoured of my blonde APBT, who's as graceful as the deer she chases. My only fear is that a hunter may yet mistake her, and my dachshund will chomp on someone's ankles.
