Seven inches so far. Wet, and is weighing down trees. (It's six in morning now)

Thanks for the update. There's two to three inches here, depending on the surface it's measured on. At 6:45 a.m. it is no longer snowing. Intellicast's regional radar summary doesn't seem to promise much more snow at this time.

half the people walking by are libertarians. How 'bout if I get one of them for ya?

Would a libertarian know if they were hit by a snowball?

I'll be here peeling potatoes.

Me, too. But, I have some clams to add. Start with a drizzle of olive oil, throw in some minced onion, and carmelize. Then start throwing in the potatoes, add spices and water... then simmering, while I look out the window and thanking God for intervening. Finish with cream, salt and pepper to taste!

We still have nothing hitting the grounding in Martinsburg, but schools are closed. I've been putzing since 4, so that I could keep the drive from piling up. Oh well, I'd rather be bored. Thanks to Adelphia Cable for their DVR service. I just got through watching yesterday's Nascar race, again... Gotta go, the cat is screaming at the door. The dog is still in bed with mama, and our teen daughter is hidden under four blankets, in her 70 degree room, probably not to be seen until noonish!

I think they would take it as a sign that they aren't in Hell. This would confuse them.

It's 10:30am and snow has stopped; temp is now above freezing. Snow on ground and trees is heavy, wet stuff - easy to walk on .

How are the taters?

I've been busy chasing that storm of historic proportions(where did it go?) and other things so I haven't made the potato soup. May wait until tomorrow for it is forecast to be a cold, blustery day.

Light snow continued here until noon, there was a short period with no precipitation, but now its is raining lightly.

Once this thing is off Cape Cod it will look a bit like a hurricane... just awesome!

Maybe even before... check this satellite of the low off the NC/VA line... BEAUTY!

I remember a few years ago, the forecasters said: "Just a couple of inches" - even when we had eight inches on the ground, they kept saying "It's going to stop. This is not a big storm". Well, it was a big storm.

This time, it was the opposite: the historic storm turned into a flop. Oh, well.

Now, it is spitting rain. The sun was out earlier.

Was that the surprise storm that dumped on Mt. Mitchell some years ago?

As we saw in the post before yours, this storm center is just sitting off the coast. If it does head northeast, things could be bad, as nwctwx said.

Phooey! This snowstorm stinks. It doesn't have any snow. What good is a "historic" snowstorm without snow?
