Prince Charles claims he has been shown "no compassion" by the British public as a result of his relationship with Camilla Parker Bowles.
In comments made to a BBC reporter, Prince Charles claimed his private life had been compromised and hit out at those intent on scaling down the Monarchy.
The Mail on Sunday said the prince made the candid remarks to journalist Gavin Hewitt in Sofia, Bulgaria, in 2003.
"I thought the British people were supposed to be compassionate. I don't see much of it," the Prince is said to have told Hewitt, when asked about the perception of his relationship.
"I don't see any reason why I should define my private life. All my life, people have been telling me what to do, I'm tired of it.
"My private life has become an industry. People are making money out of it," he complained.
The heir to the throne is due to marry Mrs Parker Bowles in April in a civil ceremony in Windsor.
HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!!!!!!!!!
(gasp) that picture...
is it yours?
I have no particular love for Prince Charles, but in all fairness, how do we know this is what he actually said? I have seen too many things totally manufactured by the media, and I am highly suspicious of this quote, which seems to be designed to set the people against the prince.
"She accepted on the basis of a false premise, that Charles cared for her, and it was to be a "normal" marriage."
At the time he did care for her. They had 2 children you know. Must have liked each other a bit at least.
Same in the US - Kennedy's dalliances would make the cover of the tabloids on a regular basis today.
Taking the bait was never so easy, lol...
Charles wants to have his cake and eat it too while demanding no one take notice.
Nevermind he didn't seem to mind his wedding to Princess Di was the most watched spectacle in human history.
Charles was always in love with Camilla. That is sort of sweet in and of itself. Charles was married to one of the worlds most beautiful women, but still could not love her. He loved Camilla...hello people!
Those who harp on Camilla's looks, should know that when the dashing Prince Phillip married Queen Elizabeth, I can't recall anyone calling her a ravishing beauty, albeit she not unattractive but cute and poised.
I simply think that we shouldn't take what's happening in England so personally. AND those who say Charles hasn't done anything with his life, are the same ones who want Prince William to take the rightful place of Charles in succession. So WHAT has Prince William accomplished? Nothing yet.
Charles and Camilla should live happilly ever after with what little time they both have left.
sw
Claptrap Charlie and his mongrel Rottweiler Classless Camilla are reprehensible individuals. The people know these two are morons. Claptrap Charlie and Classless Camilla should remember the old adage: You can fool all of the people some of the time, and some of the people all of the time, but you can't fool all the people all of the time.
If you seriously believe Charles and Camilla were not carrying on (and I do mean sleeping together) after Camilla was married, then you really must see some swampland in Florida that I'd like to offload for a small fortune.
Nice catch. The British press is notorious.
that was my point
This is rich! Prince Charles didn't show Princess Diana much compassion during their marriage.
that was my point, too
>"My private life has become an industry. People are making >money out of it," he complained.
Well then quit your 'job' as royalty, get a job and support yourself and your hunny. Then you do what you please without any qualms.
You are a kept man and the mistress of the British citizenry that support you and your lifestyle. A lifestyle many will never experience at all.
"All my life, people have been telling me what to do, I'm tired of it."
"then you really must see some swampland in Florida that I'd like to offload for a small fortune."
Geez, why do so many keep using the trite sell you swampland line. It's so overused. Come up with something more original. By the way, I disagree with you.
