Sinful and acceptable aren't always joined at the hip, mi amigo. Quite a few things which one can determine to be sinful from the Bible should be "acceptable" to most Americans on the legal/legislative front (at least) because they don't directly affect te safety and welfare of those who oppose said actions. In other words, there are just some things that are none or your (or my) damn business.
Oh, and no, I don't really believe tha homosexuality is sinful, at least not any more sinful than "calling your brother a fool" or any number of things condemned by the Bible that have been sent my way by the self-proclaimed faithful here on FR.
