That's what I think happened too. LE approached the daughter saying, "help us clear him".

It seems there was a poster named "electronicsK" who disappeared on 2/23/05 and still has some unread messages. He only made 3 posts. His first post was a long missive with the theme of "Imagine that you are BTK." (You can find his entire message at the link above.) He starts out by saying:

Imagine that you are BTK...Again
Sit back....
Turn off the lights....
Close your eyes....
Wait....
Anticipate....
Imagine....
That you are BTK....
Yes, thats right, imagine that YOU are BTK.
Now, just let that thought sink in for a while. You are BTK.
This is the last paragraph of that same long message:
...Yes, imagine that you are BTK. You are experiencing a high such as never before. The heights are simply breathtaking. You have a newfound zeal for life. You have fire in your belly. You feel a renewed enthusiasm, because there is a new game to play. It is Zero Hour, your moment of truth. You are at The Crossroads, where fervor meets self-assurance. You know that at this defining moment you are in complete control, because you are the most accomplished personality in the world. Court TV awaits your presence. The Rubicon is beckoning. Prendre la balle au bond.
Yes, you are BTK.
The BTK World Tour is here and its ShowTime!
My own Babelfish translation of the French "Prendre la balle au bond" at the end was: "To take the ball with the jump." Someone at the Kansas.com forum said it meant, "Strike while the iron is hot; make hay while the sun shines. The allusion is to certain games at ball, which must be struck at the moment of the rebound."
Anyway, electronicsK made a second post on 12/28/04:
Did it happen?
---------------------------
I believe that BTK will break into one of the homes where a former victim lived and leave a package on the kitchen table. The package will contain photos of the crime scene at that home.
Bottom line: It's hard to believe Rader would be stupid enough to leave an electronic trail on a forum like that, especially if he was on a fixed computer line.
But then again, he was ignorant enough about computers that he gave the police a floppy disk with the name of his Lutheran church on it, even though he thought he'd wiped it clean. (My theory on that -- he was too anal [cheap] to "waste a perfectly good floppy disk.")
Also, his psychological profile is probably along the lines of a mixture of narcissistic personality disorder and antisocial personality disorder. First, the extreme narcissism could have easily been manifested by lurking in "BTK Killer" conversations and forums. Can't you just see this guy hunched over his computer every night, reading all the Internet speculation about himself? Even joining in the conversation using an alias? (In fact, his first forum message I excerpted above gets into this scenario.) Extreme narcissism would make a person feel as if they are invincible and just can't be caught because they're so much more intelligent and superior to those chasing him.
And second, the antisocial personality pretty much speaks for itself. I wouldn't be surprised to later learn that his perceived "uncontrollable dark side" was played out on the Internet somehow. Does anyone know if the LE raid found a computer in his house?
Oh, and one more thing: A poster at the Kansas.com forum speculated that the "electronicsK" stood for "electronic serial Killer."
Even if it isn't him, if you're interested in this sort of thing it all makes for an interesting read.
