They could have given us one of these: http://www.gminsidenews.com/xv82.htm
Check out Air Assisted Direct Injection at: www.orbeng.com
"137-hp motor, its whopping 1,209 foot-pounds of torque..."
This thing must be heavy as HELL!
As I understand it an electrics full horsepower is available immediately. I37hp and 1209ftlb's torque would send my 2500 lb car off the line like a rocket!
My car will do the eight second thing with 124hp at 5400rpm, which is about 70 or 80hp off the line.
What gives with this thing?
Damn straight!
I did not know any of that! Thanks!
To learn more (from better sources than me), check out this website: http://journeytoforever.org/biodiesel.html. You'll have to wade through a bunch of liberal hippie propaganda, but there is good information there on BioDiesel. For information on Volkswagons, go to a dealer. And for the record, I do not work for VW, nor do I own one, but several people I know do, and I am quite impressed with their diesel models. Their "Lupo" gets upwards of 80 miles per gallon (though admittedly it has made some sacrifices for range). Now if only they could come up with a decent all-wheel-drive.
(mmmmm....Donuts....)
One guy at a renewable energy forum claimed his Dodge truck exhaust smells just like tempura. Go figure.
I've wondered for a few months now exactly what the term "a$$clown" means. Now I know. Thanks.
Quite an ugly car...looks like it has roots in France (Renault).
Looks like a Ford Probe.
Yeah, now that you mention it, it does.
I thought the Probe was ugly, too. It was the #1 "loved by gays" car, too (no, I don't remember where I read that poll but I do remember reading it)
Better yet, have the idiots-- er, I mean, new owners sign a waiver to release GM from any obligation to provide parts. But, that would require a return to the old days of caveat emptor and a healthy dose of common sense, something that probably isn't available (or, given the nature of the buyers, applicable).
So much for that "free enterprise" thing we keep hearing about. The nanny state is protecting all of us -- even the jaded enviro-whackos -- from the big-business forces of evil.
Someone has come up with a good hybrid. You just have to give your money to the Japanese instead...
I love the disgusted look on the dog's face: "what a bunch of losers; I'm outta here".
Can you say Electric Edsel.
Nothing wrong with VWs.
They are good little cars.
(Blue slug-bug... no blue slug-bug back!)
Thanks for the link!
Thanks for the links!
I I MUST choose, I'd rather give my money to the Japanese.
Japanese parts on the motor will do that. LOL
I just looked at a hybred that a guy put together in his garage for a few thousand dollars. Matches or beats any other. It is good enough that he already has a major company looking to fleet test. No billion dollar budget here.
Earth day?
It looks like United Mineworkers on strike in southwest virginia to me.
Cool!
That means real people may be able to afford one!
"Do the red one, Bob!"
Actually, the BioDiesel is made from plant or animal oils and fats. Growing the animals or plants the BioDiesel comes from might use fertilizers, or pesticides, or antibiotics, or whatever, but not necessarily. Moreover, the oil to make BioDiesel is usually a waste byproduct. You can make BioDiesel from fryer oil after it's cooked it's last Freedom Fry, and would otherwise go down the drain. Additionally, the petroleom used to make the fertilizers, or whatever, is a hell of a lot less than would otherwise be needed to run a generator to charge the batteries on an electric car.
It is also possible (in fact its preferred) to grow the oil for BioDiesel from certain algae strains. There are species of algae which massively outproduce canola and even oil palms on a per acre basis, and they don't need anything more than sun, air, and water to grow. The water doesn't even need to be fresh or clean, either; they'll quite happily grow in raw sewage or sea water, depending on the strain.
There Is No Such Thing As a Free Lunch, but BioDiesel is very close to free. It's a lot closer than hippie liberal pipe dreams like hydrogen and electric vehicles where the original power source is still inefficient and polluting, just concealed by the "green" fuel.
