A Montgomery County judge yesterday returned to prison a Derwood man who many think should never have been released into the home of his teen victim. Circuit Court Judge Durke H. Thompson reinstated the 81/2 years remaining in Sidney Ray Richardson's sentence for raping his 9-year-old stepdaughter from 1995 to 1997. In 1998, Judge Thompson sentenced Richardson, 53, to 10 years, suspending all but 18 months. Judge Thompson then allowed Richardson back into the child's home at the request of the mother, Cynthia Richardson, in 2001. The child gave birth to a baby girl in November of that year, and when Richardson's parole officer said he wanted to do a DNA test to determine the father, Richardson quit his job, emptied his bank account and fled town

In January 2000, he said it took "two to tango" in the case of an 11-year-old girl who was molested by a 23-year-old man she met on the Internet. If true, he should have been removed from the bench right after that comment. So what's going to happen to him now after releasing that rapist back into the house with his 9 year old victim? Nothing!

Judge Thompson then allowed Richardson back into the child's home at the request of the mother, Cynthia Richardson, in 2001. This woman hates her daughter.

So when does the (dumba**) mother go to jail?

After reading the entire article, I believe that this Judge Thompson is a pedophile himself. He needs to be investigated and sued.

Maryland has the market cornered for judges such as these.

You say, "After reading the entire article, I believe that this Judge Thompson is a pedophile himself. He needs to be investigated and sued."
I agree and think the judge should be named as a "accomplice before the fact," on this case and do some time himself.

Three-way gallows. The rapist, the mom, and the judge. All three swinging at once.

I can't believe the wife was that stupid. Had I found out anyone had raped my child I would want to castrate them, at the least. I definitely wouldn't have them back in my home. What was the Judge thinking? Can charges be brought against the mother for child endangerment?
Sad all the way around!

He has that sort of John Edwards look about him. Perhaps we could ask his wife, Dateline's crack investigative reporter, to look into this case.

releasing that rapist back into the house with his 9 year old victim? Just to be accurate, if he started raping her at age 9, she would have been 15 when he was released back into the house.
It's still an egregiously bad decision (he should not have been released early at all, and he shouldn't have been released into the home of a minor child, and he shouldn't have been released into the home where his former victim was staying!)
