Another relative besides the dad told Greta that the mom did not recognize a picture of Jessica when the FBI showed her one. So the relative concluded from this, and other inside info she supposedly has, that the mother is a dead end. Of course, the mother could have been pretending.

I'm still not clear as to exactly how involved the Mother was in the daughters life. It's probably nothing to be concerned with in the girls abduction tho.
