Lets tell Mr Perkins thanks for what he has done and let him know that we would proud if he became an oped Freeper.

"Who knows? I may come out of retirement in six months or a year or three years and start my own blog, proffering opinions on issues of the day. It would be just like old times."Please do so Mr. Perkins. But first, do enjoy some of your retirement....

I always enjoyed Mr. Perkins' columns. He will be missed.

Thanks for posting this, Dale. I've read Mr. Perkins for many years in the UT and have always admired and enjoyed his writing. Despite his protestations to the contrary, he will indeed be missed, at least by this reader.

Good luck to him. Mid-40s is very early to retire. Hopefully he has another productive career in mind that he can put himself into.

If Mr. Perkins suffers writer-withdrawal pains, I trust he knows he would be so very appreciated on FR.

When Jim Robinson came for his special dinner with the San Diego Chapter, Joseph and his wife Yolanda, stopped by the restaurant just for the opportunity to meet and greet Jim.
I'm sorry to see Joseph retire - but I hope he does start that blog because his perceptions are so right on.

Goodbye Joseph! We know you're reading this. Your thoughtful insight into American politics will be sorely missed. Enjoy your retirement, your family, and all the good things in life.

If Arnold does the unexpected and actually get a congressional redistricting bill through, I'd expect one or more competative empty districts in San Diego county. I've thought for years that Mr. Perkins would be a good
candidate for office.
What do you locals think?

I have a great picture of Joseph, his GORGEOUS wife Yolanda and Jim Robinson at our dinner here in San Diego. Unfortunately I can't post it on my picture server. If anyone wants to volunteer, I'll email you the jpg if you'll post it. Whatya say????
