Yeah, but "yankee" to a sutherner is always preceeded by "damn" and there is nothing between the two. "Damnyankee" is one word.

As I had to point out more than one time to others, "I'm not a DamnYankee, I'm a Texan, there's a difference."

Everyone is a 'yankee' to the foreigner.

In 1962 around the time of Bay of Pigs there was a lot of Anti-American activity in Mexico City with "yanqui go home" scrawled on walls. A Texas girl I knew told about being on a bus tour with some New York type guy trying to make points with her. He pointed out one of these displays and asked what she thought of it. She told him "Oh Honey, they don't mean US!"

maybe to SOME over there, but my expierience is that "foreigners" are EASY to educate, compared to the think-headed damnyankees!

when i'm traveling in Europe and/or South America, i always have the THIRD NATIONAL FLAG of dixie LIBERTY on my luggage! (and fyi, i met a LOT of "lovely ladies" as a result of those flag patches!)
