I loved the stories as young one (still do), but the older I get, the more I realize they are modern myths. Why do you think the UFO's from the atomic age are clunkier and metallic, while now they are dark, angular, and sleek? Could it be that they reflect the times in which they were allegedly "seen"?
I'd like nothing better than to see the day flying saucers revealed themselves, if only to find out "what's next?" But that simply isn't reality. That's sci-fi.
If the government had access to super-science, they would use it, and use it often for their own ends. There would be no secret about it. It would just be. Genies do not tend to stay in bottles forever.
