After their bitter campaign 2004 experience with the Swift Boat Veterans for Truth, John Kerry and his fellow Dems aren't waiting to be shot at again.
Yesterday, aides to Sens. Kerry, Hillary Clinton, Joe Biden and Ted Kennedy jumped all over literary mugger Jerome Corsi, co-author of the Kerry-bashing best seller "Unfit for Command." They knocked him to the ground and kicked him in the face (metaphorically, anyway) over his next Democrattrashing tome, "Atomic Iran: How the Terrorist Regime Bought the Bomb and American Politicians." The book - which Nashville's Cumberland House Publishing won't release till next month - claims Democratic pols are being corrupted by Iranian money and helping the nuke-seeking mullahs in Tehran.
But Kerry spokesman David Wade told me yesterday: "I doubt anyone who isn't wearing a tin-foil hat will take their foreign-policy cues from a proven liar who became infamous smearing the Pope, Catholics, Jews and Vietnam veterans." Kennedy aide Stephanie Cutter piled on. "You have to ask yourself: Does Mr. Corsi really believe the stuff he writes, and if so, shouldn't he get some professional help?" "Who's Corsi's co-author this time - Jeff Gannon?" scoffed Biden aide Norm Kurz, referring to the fake-named Talon News reporter who haunted the White House press room. Sen. Clinton's press secretary, Philippe Reines, echoed: "Sounds like another work of fiction."
Corsi is notorious for outrageous broadsides. He once called Hillary Clinton a "fat hog." He mused about Kerry: "After he married TerRAYsa, didn't John Kerry begin practicing Judiasm?" He derided Islam as "a worthless, dangerous Satanic religion." And he slammed Pope John Paul: "Boy-buggering in both Islam and Catholicism is okay with the Pope, as long as it isn't reported by the liberal press." Yesterday Corsi told me: "Yes, I was trying to be provocative, but those are out-of context statements, and I have apologized to anyone who was offended."
But Corsi refused to provide me with galleys of his book, saying that with the publication date a month away, it was way too early for publicity. But my colleague Richard Sisk of the Daily News Washington bureau, obtained the galleys. Sisk sent a summary: "Fellow named Hassan Nemazee apparently is the archfiend of Corsi's plot. ... Nemazee evilness connector supposedly is something called the American Iranian Council, for which he used to be a board member. "Page 255 says: 'Hassan Nemazee ... one of John Kerry's top fund-raisers in his 2004 presidential campaign, was a board member of the AIC. Nemazee funded a long list of Democratic party candidates. ... At every event where Democratic candidates have been present, the AIC has been certain to press its agenda to restore economic and diplomatic ties between Iran and the United States." But it turns out that Nemazee served on the AIC board with respected academics, former Sen. Bennett Johnston (D-La.), Halliburton CEO David Lesar and a former vice chairman of ChevronTexaco, among other worthies.
Yesterday Nemazee - a wealthy Manhattan financier, U.S. citizen and Democratic Party donor who was Kerry's New York fund-raising chairman - told me that Corsi is risking a slander suit if the book says he's an agent of the Iranian government. "The concept that I'm a shill for the mullahs flies in the face of reality," said Nemazee, whose family fled Iran after the fall of the shah. "I haven't been back for 26 years, and everything I had was confiscated by them. It is patently ludicrous." He added: "I wouldn't trust the mullahs as far as I could throw them. My belief is that the Iranian government is trying to obtain nuclear capability and will do whatever it takes." How much difference is there between Nemazee's views and President Bush's? "Not a lot," he answered.
Corsi, meanwhile, plans to relocate from New Jersey to Massachusetts to establish residency and run for Senate against Kerry in 2008.
Personally, I agree with most of his comments. Keep bashing them Corsi... the press will be FORCED to cover you this time!
The liberals obviously only agree with free speech when it's for the Ward Churchill's of the world.
More coverage.
Suddenly FREE SPEECH isn't so free if you disagree with the America hating leftist media hacks and their cohorts in the dem party.
And here I had believed that Corsi was asking only softball questions about the various luminaries of the Democrat party. Once in a while a sting gets through to them, hey?
Impotence is such a challenge in so many ways. Moral, physical, and emotional.
The whiner dims can dish it out, but can't take it.
The MSM is now forced to cover them for their ad campaign against the AARP too.
Bullies can't ever take what they dish out!
And that's what libs are......among other things!
Well, Kerry would be the foremost expert on smearing Vietnam veterans.
When are these guys going to learn? Just because you people have told us he is a liar doesn't make it so and is far from proven of anything. The reaction of these guys by mocking him almost speaks for itself, and the idea he got famous by bashing Catholics, Jews and Vietnam Vets is so false it makes the Dems look guilty. He bashed a Catholic/Jewish/Irish/Vietnam Veteran liar who got famous shilling for the Communists by bashing Vietnam Vets and defaming them causing years of ridicule and shame.
Hellery may have to call Vito and the boys to shut this guy up...
Ha! I'm still waiting for Jean Francois to sign that 180.
"Hellery may have to call Vito and the boys to shut this guy up."
Wouldn't be the FIRST time!
I am all for this! This should give Kerry his 2nd defeat. Now if only Corsi would insist that Kerry signs his Std Form 180. Which he won't do.

We pubbies can't wait 'til Corsi & Jean Francois 'square off' for the Taxachussetts Senate seat. It's gonna get very noisey...up there in liberal country.
So what is the truth on this Nemazee guy?
In Massachusetts? Want to bet? Only Democrat carpetbaggers do well in the northeast.
Hmmmmmmmmmmmm...and it was Democrat President Jimmy Carter who turned Iran over to the mullahs...hmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm.
But, returning to reality, it's not necessary to invoke some hare-brained conspiracy theory to blame the Democrats for the Iranian catastrophe. What they lack in guile they make up for in stupidity. The Democrat Party is, after all, the Party of Fools as well as of Soundrels--as the Iranian disaster amply demonstrates.
(And if they had their way, America would be a bigger disaster than Iran.)
