I couldn't go to look at the wreckage. I just couldn't.

My dad worked two blocks away from the Twin Towers. He saw the plane hit as he walked across the bridge surrounded by masses of people. And From the bridge he saw the two towers come crumbling down.

My mom who also works in the city, saw the smoke outside the windows of her building.

It was terribly frightening.

And my mother went to work the very next day. She felt every American that could, should go to work. Just to show them that did this to us, that we would not falter.

When someone kicks sand in your face, punch 'em in the nose! Your Mom stood up. Be proud!

My classmate from high school died at Cantor Fitzgerald. It is still vividly painful to recall that day, and I, too, never wanted to visit the pile of debris. In fact, coming across the bridge from Jersey without the towers still fills my heart with dread.

We can only thank God that we didn't lose 10x as many lives that day.

God bless your family, and baby Matthew. May he know in his heart the uncle he will not meet on this earth.
