What's particularly amusing about that comment is the fact that Ann Coulter manages to couch Gannon's as "friendly questions" at press conferences. Having oh-so-timely abandoned any pretense at being a "constitutional scholar" and carved out for herself a niche as Killer Queen of Liberal Repartee, you would think she would recognize the "liberal" smears a part of Gannon's comments. His were not questions but editorial comments combined with utterly retarded personal attacks. However, given the tone and substance (or lack thereof) of Mz. Coulter's columns as a rule, I can understand why she rushes to his defense. As for your comments on closet queens ... I see no reason to respect anyone simply for whatever skin, sex, orientation, handicap or what-have-you they were born with or chose for themselves. Nor do I condemn them for same. But if you think that a raft of closet queens at the top of the GOP is not a problem, you got another think coming.
a) Ann knows as much or more about the constitution as any other "constitutionalist" pundit on TV or in any major paper
b) The top GOP'ers gay agenda must be well hid if they support an Amendment to the constitution to keep marraige from gay clutches.
c) Gannon's questions were no more idiotic or editorialist than any other lame WH press reporter's. Only his slanted right, not left.
d) I was one of the first freepers to say if Gannon's gayporn websites were reality (only rumours at the time), then he deserved to be drummed out of the press corps, and pronto.
Sounds like you might have some inside info there Asskel. Or maybe playing out a fantasy?
re: carved out for herself a niche as Killer Queen of Liberal Repartee)))
Well, now, isn't that quite an achievement, in and of itself? I don't accept that that is all she's done--I found "Treason" a remarkable and beautifully documented, compelling retelling of the Whitaker Chambers saga. Around here, I don't think that's appreciated as much as her Eternal Legs. I even called Ann a "Mane-Flipper" at one time, but so much of that is burlesque.
That is, in the same sense that Rush uses braggadocio, Ann uses mini-skirts.
The Gannon thing was a shakedown. I resent highly its intimidatory nature--if all Gannon has "done" is to embarrass himself in his private life...well, he needs to come back to the WH. Wouldn't that just kill the liberals?
We all have, in our local churches, a very worthy and kind lady, Mrs. McPhereson, whose son is (as we say in the South) sweet. None of us would grieve Mrs. McPhereson for the world, and none of us would really want to be unkind to her son. I regard homosexuality as a kind of affliction; I do not understand it. But I do know that I am not required to approve of it.
Mrs. McPhereson's son can still make a living, can write things that I might want to read. I don't have to applaud his sexual behavior to do that.
And Mrs. McPhereson's son provides the flowers for the church altar from his shop...
You love the truth so much, name the closet queens.
