it was my understanding that they grew into children only becasue they were kept on the respirator. If he will NEVER be able to breath on his own then it is different then if he can breathe on his own no matter what the mental damage.
I am sympathetic. Doctors tried to starve me to death under the guise of I would never have 'a normal life' and they were wrong. However, I do object to the child being on a breathing ventilator for his entire life.
I'm not saying the mother's lack of reality affects the legal/moral issues, but it doesn't help her case, and probably harms it. People are not likely to be sympatheic, which is a shame.
Why? I worked with a man in Operation Rescue who carried breathing apparatus into a killing site in order to rescuse unborn babies.
