Only citizens can vote in federal elections. Non-citizens can not vote regardless of their legal status.And we are talking about a plan that will allow all these "guest workers" to become legal citizens.
I don't have a problem with that per se. But to say that the national partys don't see the votes that could be counted on in the future is naive.

Fortunately Hispanics tend to pro family, pro military, pro traditional values, and have strong work ethics. Bush got 40% to 45% of the vote and we will get more if we can just keep the anti-Hispanics from making gratuitous hateful statements about Hispanics.

But to say that the national partys don't see the votes that could be counted on in the future is naive. I think it is naive to think Dubya fought to become President so he could help the party win more votes. When you reach the top you think about what history will say not what donors will say.
