To be honest I'm with Jim Robinson when I say I'd rather deal with illegal immgiration over a national ID/domestic passport.

Why does it have to be a "one or the other" proposition? Again, the Real ID Act would be completely unessessary if we cut off all illegal alien welfare, rescind the law the states that any person born in the U.S. automatically becomes a U.S. citizen, fine employers for hiring illegal aliens, and secure our borders to the best of our ability.

To impose fines on employers, you need CONVICTIONS. Poohbah pointed out in Post 191 what happened when they tried to crack down. The jury acquitted in 15 minutes on one open-and-shut case.

To change the law, you need to amend the 14th Amendment, by the way ("All persons born or naturalized in the United States, and subject to the jurisdiction thereof, are citizens of the United States and of the state wherein they reside.").
