The size of the undocumented immigrant population in the United States is probably about 9 million people.
"But hey, they're better educated than previous illegal immigrants...*"

At the same time that the number of illegal laborers has been increasing, our economy has been growing and unemployment has been going down. Violent crime has also been decreasing. And our standard of living has been increasing.
What's all the hysteria about?

How many illegals do you employ?

I do not employ any. I have stated so many times. Since you just joined FR I'm going to give you the benefit of the doubt this time, but if you continue to make allegations of criminal behavior against me I will push the abuse button. This was number one.

"Because he and his pals are having campaign coffers filled with campaign contributions from the corrupt employers benefitting from illegal alien labor, and because of Karl Rove's mad idea that pandering to them will make Hispanic U.S. citizens vote Republican." I don't think that's all there is to this.
The base of the Republican Party is being split in half now, and it's going to be a lot more pronounced by 2008.
Ideas:
Venezuela, who is our third largest supplier ,is presently bargaining with China for most of the oil allotments normally reserved for the United States.
Canada, who is our largest supplier ,is leaning in the same direction.
The House of Saud is teetering, and Saudi Arabia, who is our second largest supplier, could possibly shut off supplies to all infidel countries.
Mexico is presently only our fourth largest supplier, but they sit on billions of barrels of undeveloped resources offshore.
By opening up exploration and development to American companies, they would be the beneficiary of an economic boom, and, at the same time, provide a stable oil supply to the United States.
I am not justifying the rape of our country for oil.
I'm simply saying that there is more to this invasion than meets the eye.

If illegal immigration is such a godsend, bayourod, why are so many people leaving California? Why are clinics and hospitals closing along the border? Our economy is growing in spite of the drag of illegal immigration.
To: bayourod
You obviously don't live in California.
To: F16Fighter; All
Did anyone else hear about a web site where you can report illegal immigrants? Anyone know what it is?

NM has 48% now. Once amnesty is passed through they will have a solid majority which means we will in effect, be losing all future elections to Mexico. There is little doubt that they will stick together when they vote because their families and friends still live in Mexico.

"Almost one-third of all undocumented immigrants live in California. I'm beginning to think that this statement should read, "Almost one-third of California's population are illegal immigrants."
I spend my work life bouncing from construction site to construction site. I am taken aback when I hear English spoken by someone other than the boss. The graffiti in the porta-johns usually sounds like MECHA or La Raza propaganda. These people may work hard but they do not want to assimilate at all. I'd say that most have nothing but contempt for this country and a desire to bilk us for all they can.
The jobs that "Americans just won't take" are jobs that Americans can't take because wages have been suppressed by illegals living 6 to a room. I wonder how long it will be until my job becomes a job that "Americans just won't take"?

I believe these statistices to be low. There was an article posted here a while back that stated that there were 850K illegals alone who graduated from high school last year.

"why are so many people leaving California? Why are clinics and hospitals closing along the border? "I don't know why so many people are leaving California. I thought I saw somewhere that your economy is booming. I know your crime is down. Shipping companies are relocating to Houston because your ports are too crowded and you have a labor shortage.
As for hospitals closing on the border, on a couple threads in the past about hospitals closing it was brought out that new hospitals had opened in the area. The new hospital gets the patients who can afford to pay for the new equipment or who have good insurance. The better doctors are attracted to the newer hospitals. The old hospitals are left with the people who don't have insurance or can't afford the more expensive services.
It's not that the hospitals close because they have too many illegals, it's because they don't have enough rich folk.

This is one sure way to weaken this country and have the terrorists infiltrate the US.

I'm with you - can't stand that PC term either. At CPAC last Saturday a panelist said illegal aliens are more like "burglars"... criminals breaking into your house. He got LOTS of applause for his comments.

"

Our local hospital just implemented a policy that requires even the insured patient put down $250 before treatment. You know why? Too many indigent and illegal, uninsured hitting the hospital up without paying and so EVERYONE must bear their costs.
But you know what? If I had to use their services, I wouldn't pay it. Know why? Guess how many illegals have to put it up? Guess how much of the hospital's operating budget is for "indigent" care? Now guess exactly who pays THAT bill? IMO, I've already paid it once.
