Isn't 4500 PSI about what we see in SCUBA tanks?

What's the pressure in a .38spl cartridge?

Per SAAMI specs standard working pressure for .38 special is 18900 cup, for +P 22400 cup. A "cup" denotes a copper cylinder compression gage unit of pressure, approximately 1 psi. These are the maximum pressures attained in the barrel for an instant only.
