This is a red herring story. These are not republicans they are trolls posing as rinos.

Their NAME IS INTENDED AS A SEXUAL INUENDO INSIDE JOKE.

ABC is just using it to insult republicans. A beavis and buthead level joke.

There's nothing wrong with a good healthy debate. I'm just happy to be in the political party that allows and welcomes debate because we believe the best ideas will win in the end. If these guys tried to work this agenda from within another major party in this country they might find themselves in Fort Marcy Park.

These guys are nothing more than liberal backstabbers - what a joke real conservatives and republicans need to ignore these perverts who care more about NAMBLA law than constitutional justice.

"Now the election of 2004 is over," said Christopher Barron, the Log Cabin Republicans' political director. "And we think there are opportunities to work with this president. The fact is the gay and lesbian community has to realize that the president won."

During the campaign (September/October timeframe?), it came out that Christopher Barron's last job was rather high-up in a Democrat organization.

Someone should form a group called New Deal Klansmen to support the democrat party...

wait, that won't work, since most KKK members were democrats already.... hmmm.

Found it! "GayPatriot is reporting that the Gay Republican organization Log Cabin Republicans, which has refused to endorse President Bush's re-election, has been infiltrated by the Kedwards campaign at the top: Log Cabin GOP Political Director Unmasked As Former Edwards Campaign Operative In a major blow to the credibility of the national Log Cabin Republicans organization as a moderate voice in the Republican Party, newly discovered documents reveal that the person who manages the national Log Cabin political operation is, in fact, a long-time operative for the John Edwards Democratic Presidential campaign. According to documents faxed to me yesterday (detailed in the section below), and corroborated by multiple sources, Log Cabin Political Director Christopher Barron headed up volunteer efforts for the John Edwards for President campaign for the Washington, DC area. Barron was hired by new Executive Director Patrick Guerriero as part of his management team. According to three different sources, Barron has separately confirmed his connection to the Edwards campaign in the past.... Log Cabin's recent "non-endorsement" of President Bush based on "principle" is now also called into question. Is it possible that coordination between LCR and the Kerry-Edwards campaign intentionally engineered the "non-endorsement" as a way to suppress the votes this year of the supposed one million gay voters for Bush in 2000? Finally, the news that Log Cabin's political director may in fact be a Democrat-in-disguise raises serious questions about the true agenda and judgment of the new national Log Cabin management team. Just this week, news broke that LCR National cancelled the charter of a local chapter because that chapter endorsed a Republican! How hypocritical since that decision was defended by none other than former John Edwards operative, Christopher Barron. The most disturbing question of all in my mind is why Log Cabin has only provided lip-service protest against the "outing" campaign and not launched an all-out assult against Michael Rogers? In fact, Rogers himself has claimed repeatedly that Log Cabin board members are helping him. Is it possible that Guerriero and Barron don't care about the gay Republicans being outed at all? The last time I checked, homophobia was a form of bigotry and therefore not a conservative value. I don't think you should delete this thread, however you might want to clean up the keywords. Thank you.

That's a deal killer for me. I believe that gays have a place in the Republican party and they are most productive when they work constructively towards common ground such as civil unions. But the fact that the Log Cabin Republicans is employing high-ranking Democrats to their leadership suggests that they are trying to bore from within, rather than build an pro-GOP organization. In summary, I think we should be open to gay Republicans but this one organization seems like bad news.

They may have attended the conference, but I doubt that they fully support true conservative causes.

1.) The leadership, you could say, withheld support for President Bush's re-election in 2004.

2.) They don't support a Constitutional Amendment banning same-sex marriage. And why would they? There is a serious conflict of interest here, though, which inherently disqualifies them from being social conservatives.

Attending a conservative conference doesn't make them conservative anymore than them going to McDonald's makes them a hamburger.
