It is the difference between rapid death and slow death.

If the new strain of AIDS becomes a rapid death, it will not yield cost savings because the costs will be transfered into demands for "survivor benefits" to the remaining sex partner or partners.

The politics of AIDS if far more devastating than the actual disease.

Maybe you feel that their "rights" outweigh the rights of their victims.

If you're a sodomite on crystal meth, you're no-ones "victim" except your own.

Since people with active T.B. are regularly quarintined, why are these people allowed to kill? There would not be an epedemic of this disease if the carriers were isolated in quarentine. This disease has been allowed to run rampant for the last 20 years because of the queer lobby.

PC triumphs over public health, every time.

Good point. However, I've been learning something about this new Avian Flu, H5N1 virus, which is now endemic in Asia. Sooner or later, (it's been around since 1997) it will make the jump to human-to-human transmissibility. The CDC has just issued a warning about the massive health threat it poses to the world.

It's my opinion that if/when the pandemic starts, every single available health dollar with go to treatment and containment of this deadly flu. And the HIV+ folks will be left holding a very short straw, because no one will care about their "feelings" anymore.

The only way you're going to quarantine AIDS-bearers is if you require mandatory AIDs tests for the entire US population.

If that t ype of flu is ever transmittable via anal sex, you can bet the CDC will not act against it...

No but the fact that they have less Aids there and the isolation works is a pretty good justification.

Actually, Cuba is the only country to stop the AIDS epidemic within its borders. They had a terrible problem when their soldiers came home from Africa with AIDS.

Cuba solved this problem by testing and placing into Quarentine anyone who had HIV. They were given rations better than ther general population, and allowed visitors. However, they were told that if they engaged in any kind of sex with someone from outside of Quarentine, both persons were to be executed.

There is now no AIDS in Cuba outside the Quarentine boundaries.

The objective is to identify the carrier, and to warn his victim. Someone, 20 years ago, suggested a discreet tattoo the site of which would alert the prospective partner to the danger of proceeding as had been planned. But the author of the idea was treated as though he had been schooled in Buchenwald, and the idea was not widely considered, but maybe it is up now for reconsideration.

Part of the problem is that people under a death sentence are usually unconcerned about how many others might die too. Gays tend to be selfish individuals. If they kill off other gay men while enjoying their last days, I think some wouldn't stop for a moment.

My point is that Cuba didn't waste time with these disease spreaders. Had AIDs been handled as a public health issue rather than a civil rights issue, we wouldn't have these problems
I say lock them all on an island where they can be away from infecting the public

The sad truth is that this does NOT happen.

My brother was dying of AIDS in the '90's.
A few months before he died the doctor gave my mom a new set of very strict instructions for his care. And encouraged her to put him in a hospice which he begged her NOT to do. We found out later what was really going on. He was being tested for T.B. before before his death and the doctor DID NOT WARN OR INFORM the family at all.

We only found out when we got the death cert. 4 months later. Me and my family are fine and healthy, but that doctor cared more about my brother's "rights" than he did about those caring for him.

And he had the antibiotic resistant T.B.

No, but "containment and isolation" are the only way to bring this plague under control. It's not a "civil rights issue", it's a "civilization issue", as in choose if we want to see civilization continue.

Eventually one of these walking human disease incubators are going to breed something so viral that it will mutate outside of the normal transmission pathology to something far more communicable. One almost easily believes they are attempting to do so on purpose, so craven are their ways.

Whether they do it first or some terrorists get their hands on something just as bad remains to be seen.
