I'm not Catholic (Methodist, actually). However, kudos to the Catholic Church for electing Karol Wotyla as Pope. While he didn't always see eye to eye with American policy, he recognizes evil when he sees it and isn't afraid to say so. Second to Ronald Reagan, I give him credit for the downfall of the evil of Soviet Communism. Considering the climate in which the Church selected Wotyla Pope, it was a gutsy move, but morally the absolutely right selection on the part of the College of Cardinals.
JP2 has done much to restore the status of the Papacy as a voice of God on earth. While I hope the time is not near, JP2 will be sorely missed when he passes. And I pray for guidance to the College that the Lord guide them in selecting his successor when the time comes.
Thanks, and may God bless you and yours.
You should be Catholic.
Viva Il Papa! Cent'Anni!
What a great comment. I applaud your observations and recognition of a saintly man. I was one of thousands who saw him in Baltimore. I stood along the road and could still "feel" the aura of spiritualness that surrounds him. We are fortunate he is the leader of the Catholic Church in this time of many conflicts.
