For Plame's outing to have been illegal, the one-time deputy AG says, "her status as undercover must be classified." Also, Plame "must have been assigned to duty outside the United States currently or in the past five years."

Why has it taken so long for someone to bring this point up?! Crikies! -- we were broaching this a year ago.

What did the MSM know, and when did they know it?

This was me on 10/10/'03.

"To: Bud Bundy

She has 3+ year old twin girls, who took about nine months to get here. That takes us out about 4 years or so. She may have had couvert assignments abroad during that time, but would you? Therefore, she has a window of about a year in which to have been abroad in couvert status to make this a crime. The Statute that pertains has a five year test for couvert/ abroad to fall within the definition of couvert agent.

Thus, whereas we can not say for certain, she was probably not a couvert agent. Under the definition of the law, she probably was not."

Not bad for pure logical supposition, eh? I think I posted similarly earlier too. Have learned to spell "covert," though.
