IMO, It's the older woman thing that started with American Pie."The older woman thing" has been part of pop culture since The Graduate. Letourneau pre-dated the release of Pie, and years before Letourneau there was Pamela Smart, who is still in prison after being convicted of convincing her student-victim to kill her husband.
