This must be the first time a a "castle" was toppled by being bypassed. Actually, this is the entire concept of maneuver warfare. You bypass the enemy's hard points and just go around him. Since he's not mobile he is rendered impotent and irrelevant.
The Mongol Hordes did it a long time ago and the blitz krieg did it to the Maginot Line.

"Never pick a fight with someone who buys ink by the barrel" used to be good advice, and it applied to cartoonists as well. Not any more. Never pick a fight with people who buy bandwidth by the gigabit.

Wow. It's really beginning to hit home when Oliphant covers it... I suspect he views it as a mere peasant uprising, although the invaders are carrying real weapons, not pitchforks.
