If it were my daughter, I'd probably be on my way to jail, pleading "the defense of others" to the judge.

If you are ever in that situation, insist on a jury trial. You're more likely to find two jurors who understand what it means to be a parent than a judge who does.

actually, my husband is in his last semester of law school and want to do crimial prosecution. He said the same thing, a jury would be sympathetic to a situation like that.
