There is no statute of limitations on attempted murder, is there? I'm not sure whether there is in Florida. I think it varies by state. On the other hand, it's apt to be very hard to get a conviction so long after the apparent crime has been committed. Defense attourneys can make jurors doubt why the prosecution waited so long to come forward. On the other hand, if Michael succeeds in killing Terri, that would be a 'fresh' crime legally even if the actions to undertake the murder go back. And a prosecutor could say he hadn't been prosecuted for murder before because Terri was still alive.

I would hope that she does not have to die for him to be brought to justice if indeed he is the cause of all of the trauma she sustained.
You are going to say I watch too much tv, but how about "Cold Case Files"? Cases are solved many years after the actual crimes and people are tried and brought to justice. The prosecutors may not have had all of the information in Teri's case at the time of her injury to try him.
