Yeah, IBM is laying off older workers and hiring in LOTS of H1B's or shipping jobs to South America. They just told a friend of mine with 20 years in that he had thirty days to switch to being a contractor or they would fire him. He was very good too. They are shooting themselves in the foot by getting rid of a very valuable knowledge base.

Good points about dice.com

Nevertheless, I agree that we are on the way. Genuine good tech employment news, at last.

I remember the outrage from those who would brook no comments disparaging the "recovery" as article after news article was posted reporting that two people got jobs in Duluth and three found work in Mobile. :>)

What we need is our schools to quit letting the unions rule the day, they need to get busy teaching our kids for these jobs.

Union control is ruining our children's education. We have two absolute monopolies in the USA. The military puts out the best of the best. Our schools, sadly, are the worst of the worst in the industrialized nations.

It's an outrage!

How come when people can't find jobs, the bushbots say they aren't looking hard enough, but when companies can't find employees, they scream shortage? Isn't it possible companies aren't looking hard enough, or is this just more openbordersfreetrade double talk?

"Ah, the willfully ignorant FReeper. When presented with facts, a source, an organization, and links - can only say "this is stupid" and provide no supporting evidence."

I am an ex-IBMer who was part of the services organization for a few years pretty recently.

Take a look at my original post. I didn't say it was ALL for local projects, but I can tell you that much of it is. I can also tell you that there are legions of US based programmers, some of whom do work for overseas projects.

Calling me "ignorant" is a little over the top.
