And so it goes...

A little over 200 years, and we're right on schedule.

Just think, the Chinese took over the Panama Canal while Republicans watched, now they moved beyond their hemisphere into ours, and we cheer. Now they move their "democracy" into positions to surround us. Someone tell me that there is not a political game of "three card monte" going on.

I think they should fatten up the Chinese on a lot of jerk pork, and then proceed to eat them.

This is one of the small steps of America losing it's rank as the "Superpower".

The United States has applauded China's economic offensive, seeing it as a herald of political reform.

I wouldn't call the ability to buy a cell phone from one of four different companies "political reform." Sounds more like market choice. Political reform would be hanging the ChiCom leaders and replacing them with a democratic republic.

The Chinese never took over the Panama Canal. A private Chinese citizen does own the company which is building the ports in Balboa and Cristobal, but the managers are British and the blue collars are Panamanians. Many of the other ports being built are owned by U.S. companies to include the new railroad.

You should do a little reading on this. I live here so I know what is going on.

All military "tourists".

In the early 1960's (through the 2nd Vatican Council) the Catholic Church decided to 'open' itself up to the world and stop being so 'isolationist'. The theory was that the gospel and the Church would spread and grow. The architects of this radical change called it "The New Springtime". But the 'world' has been beating up on the Church ever since, and the Church is staggering.

Unfortunately, it's no different with the U.S. In the name of modernity, and in the promise of economic growth and strength, we have opened our doors up to the 'world' through free trade and unchecked immigration. How long will it be before our own enemies find us staggering about? Or have they already?

Even more regrettable it was a former Republican President, (Nixon), who helped opened the doors to free trade with Communist China. And it was other Republican Presidents (Presidents GHWB and GWB) who helped keep this trade status alive with this barbaric nation. I don't know what it's all done for the U.S. economy, but the Communist Chinese economy is growing with frightening speed, (and so is their military capability).

You should do a little reading of your own. The Chinese control both ends of the Panama Canal. In 1997, the Hong Kong-based Hutchinson Whampoa company bought port facilities on both the Atlantic and Pacific sides of the canal. This company is thought by most experts to be a front for the Chinese military. If anyone believes that the ChiCom government actually allows corporations to run freely, they're probably the same folks who think there is a Catholic Church in China. (There is, but its Bishops are appointed by the Chinese government). There is NOTHING in Communist China that the government doesn't have its communist fingers in.

Gads, how can one talk to somebody who knows it all but has never set foot in Panama much less lives here and obviously has only read things that back up his/her wacko beliefs. Believe what you want. Best of luck. Oh, the moon is made of blue cheese, but you knew that.
