SoS USED to be the MAIN route to the presidency (Jefferson, Madison, Monroe, Adams, Buchanan) but no longer was after the Civil War.

Condi could be a good choice IF---and only if---she makes up her mind to cut away from the pack on immigration. If she stakes out a strong anti-illegal stand, and maybe lures Owens in as Veep, even her "pro-choice" views would be politically irrelevant.

Don't forget her pro abortion views. Without credibly shedding those she is a loser. It can be done. GHWB did it. If she becomes the nominee, even if the Republican prolifers don't brig it up, the crats surely will.
