You rightfully admonished me for my negative remarks about politicians. I need to guard against being overly negative about them as a whole and not lump all of them in the same bad light that shines upon far too many:)

I agree that his efforts to limit political speech and other anti-Bush positions will not play well with the GOP base.

Lose the base.....lose the race....!

What a mess the beautiful people (as opposed to "plain" people) would have on their hands if McCain got the Republican nomination and Hilliary the Democrat. What on earth would Chris Matthews do?????? He practically slobbers on McCain and he loves Hilliary too. Who would the third party candidate be then?

I wish there were a transcript, so we could post McCain's exact statement.
Me too. Hopefully some resourceful FReeper or blogger will dig one up. I want to verify what I heard him say because it was so friggin' cunning and treasonous

I second that!

Lose the base.....lose the race....!

It depends on who will be in the race. McCain will try to use the fact that he could win versus Hillary or other Dems as the reason to nominate him. Some other Reps need to surface nationally or McCain will be the default candidate.

Thanks for the ratings info on Graham. I'm in his corner unless he boots me out.

McCain will NEVER I repeat NEVER get my vote....

I happen to put my complete faith in our forefathers and the "complete" Bill of Rights... McCain does not support the 1st or 2nd Amendment.....

During the 2001 election, I saw McCain in person a few times during the debates when all the Republican candidates came to our town.

Even our state senator and mayor noticed that McCain, when the camera is not on him, is mentally unstable. He has an anger that is barely controlled and I've seen that bared teeth look you described, demkicker.

If McCain is the GOP nominee against Hillary, I will vote for McCain. In fact, I will do everything I can to prevent her from being elected President.

Ditto! And he's a former military JAG .. he should be bursting with prideful, supportive comments for what our brave military endure and have done, and yet I've noticed his positions gradually become more polished, self-focused and calculated...this, from one of the managers of the impeachment of the Klown. Wish we saw more of Jim Rogan and that he was more officially involved in things.

The way Isee this is the conservative base must do all it can to produce a winning candidate....and at the same time I will never sell out my allegiance to the Constitution of this great land.

I was favorable impressed by Graham on this news conference.

I have not been paying much attention to him before, but I will in the future, and we'll see. But between the favorable conservative ratings, and this impression, he sounds OK.

We'll see.

And thanks to McCain's despicable press conference today where he tried to embolden our enemies and endanger our troops, I'm changing my tagline.
