McCain is running as the GOP candiate for President in 2008, not VP. He will have a problem getting it, but McCain may be the default candidate given his name recognition and press adulation. Hillary has the Dem nomination if she wants it and she does. Sounds about right
To: JoethePirate
I might be thinking of someone else then.
BUT HE STILL HAS ROOM FOR IMPROVEMENT!!!!

I missed it. What did he say?

The shrillness of her voice will hit your eardrum causing dizziness and some hearing loss. You have been warned. That explains why my left ear hurts....and if I turn up the sound...I could suffer convulsions...and possible VIOXX complications...maybe even the plague.... What's a poor citizen to do...?
I know, I'll call Susan Collins or Olympia Snow or Barney (I love a good weiner) Frank...they'll know whom to blame!

Dontchya think McCain and Hillary! can make their MTP appearance via satellite just like they did their press conference?
Well, duh, I didn't think of that! You're right, that's exactly what they'll do. Now I'll be forced to watch to see if McCain will make another attempt at emboldening our enemies while mugging for the media spotlight again.
Sign me disgusted...

I'll take that bet for any amount.
Me too. I regret to say that John McCain doesn't have a death wish.

All due respect, but I disagree that most politicians are slick, sinister, evil/power hungry.
I have to belive there are many who are righteously zealous and patriotically moved.... to affect good change if they're in a position to do so.
My goodness, I would lose much hope if I thought most all are only there for their own aggrandizement.
....Yes, I'm an idealist, but I've not been disappointed!!
However, the Lindsey Graham's of this world just scream..to be watched carefully.

And that isn't even Photoshopped :-)
I'm only half-surprised that Fox didn't break out the Red Alert for that; I would have.

Lindsey Graham is great! "We'll stay until the job is done."
I'm with you. I thought Graham was superb. Everyone is naturally dumping on Hillary, but I'm horrified with McCain's grandstanding. He started out with the usual platitudes, but did you notice how the bastard started telegraphing the only way we'd leave Iraq early is if the casualty level of our troops kept increasing?
Geeze, Louise!!! McCain is a puke traitor! For him to lead a press conference and essentially tell the terrorists, "If you start targeting huge numbers of our troops, the American people (read media) will see to it that this war ends in disaster."
Don't think for one minute Lindsey Graham's interruption of McCain's traitorous little speech was accidental. He bluntly interrupted McCain to continue talking about Social Security, a question he'd already answered!!! When Graham barged in on the pep talk McCain was giving to the terrorists, McCain made his famous clenched teeth/locked jaw face. McCain was furious that little Lindsey Graham shut him down.
I will forever be grateful to Lindsey Graham for that insightful episode. And I am stunned, shocked and dismayed that no one else on this thread is remarking about it!

Me too. Hopefully some resourceful FReeper or blogger will dig one up. I want to verify what I heard him say because it was so friggin' cunning and treasonous.

I have been seeing signs lately that McCain will run in 2008 despite being then 72 and having a running battle with skin cancer. McCain's wife also had a stroke a few years ago. McCain has mentioned the age of his mother and the fact that longevity runs in his family. McCain has tasted the spotlight and doesn't want to relinquish it.
McCain is still a pro-life conservative who has a conservative voting record. He is also a genuine war hero. His status as a maverick plays well to independents. I agree that his efforts to limit political speech and other anti-Bush positions will not play well with the GOP base. Despite the MSM's lionization of McCain, he was only able to get about one-third of the vote during the 2000 primaries, some of it due to crossover votes. I would give him a better shot at beating Hillary than winning the GOP nomination.
