New Allegations Surface of Prisoner Abuse in Iraq and Afghanistan

New allegations of prisoner abuse by U.S. forces in Iraq and Afghanistan have been revealed in Army documents released by the American Civil Liberties Union.

The documents show photographs of U.S. soldiers in Afghanistan posing with hooded and bound detainees during mock executions.   The photos were taken at a base in southern Afghanistan (Fire Base Tycze) between December 2003 and February 2004.  Some members of the infantry regiment said they took the pictures for fun and destroyed some of them after the Abu Ghraib prison scandal in Iraq to avoid another public outrage.

The Afghanistan incident triggered an Army investigation.  Army records show that several soldiers were charged with dereliction of duty, but  more serious charges were not substantiated.

I'm still trying to find out where you sign up for the torture where you have to masturbate all day.

Who really cares???? They are the enemy, sometimes bad things happen to the enemy. I believe we treat our enemies with much more dignity than they have ever dreamed of treating us.

And I am supposed to care about this, why?

Nobody killed, mamed, or injured. No foul, except the ACLU like to show their anti-American colors. Can we run them out of town yet?

The enemy on the other hand makes videos of themselves sawing off the heads of kidnapped civilians.

Yawn.

Remind me how many people were beheaded, women and children blown up, and military and police-in-training gunned down in the past week or so.

Absolutely no one who I've talked with cares anything about prisoner treatment. No one.

There are a number of people serving overseas in families from our area and among our acquaintances, and not one of them cares how the prisoners are treated. No one would believe any allegation of abuse anyway, even if it were documented with photographs.

The mainstream media is going to find out how much damage they did, with their outrageous Abu Graib coverage. The damage was all to their own credibility. Yes, we're American, and want to be fair. But we just don't care what happens to these prisoners, and we are totally on the side our our troops and the war effort.

False!

These are largely old allegations that the investigations were completed and closed.

A few are ongoing but started some time ago.

it was a data dump by DOD.

These yellow bellied lawyers are recycling them as new, to increase donations by DUmmies.

I'm new here people, so please cut me some slack, but I'd like to share this information about the proper treatment of enemy combatants......

Dear Concerned Citizen:

Thank you for your recent letter criticizing our treatment of the
Taliban and Al Qaeda detainees currently held at Guantanamo Bay, Cuba.
The administration takes these matters seriously. Your opinion was
heard loud and clear here in Washington .You will be pleased to learn that, thanks
to the concerns of citizens like you, we are creating the
Terrorist Retraining Program, to be called the "Liberals Accept
Responsibility for Killers" program, or LARK for short. In accordance
with the guidelines of this new program, we have decided to place one
terrorist under your personal care.

Your detainee has been selected and scheduled for transportation to
your residence as soon as possible. Ali Mohammed Ahmed bin Mahmud is to be
cared for pursuant to the standards you personally demanded in your
letter of admonishment. We will be conducting weekly inspections to ensure
that your standards of care for Ahmed are commensurate with those you
so strongly recommended in your letter.

Although Ahmed is sociopath and extremely violent, we hope that your
sensitivity to what you described, as his "attitudinal problem" will
help him overcome this character flaw. Perhaps you are correct in
describing these problems as merely “cultural differences.”

I should warn you that your adopted terrorist is extremely proficient in hand-to-hand combat and can extinguish human life with such simple items as a pencil or
nail clippers. He is also expert at making a wide variety of explosive
devices from common household products, so you may wish to keep those
items locked up, unless you feel that this might offend him.

Ahmed will not wish to interact with your wife, daughters, or any other females who might visit or live at your residence. He views females as a subhuman form of property. This is a particularly sensitive subject for him. He has shown violent
tendencies around women who fail to comply with the dress code that he considers appropriate and mandatory. I am sure that over time, your wife and daughters will come to enjoy the anonymity offered by the bhurka. Just remind them that it is
all part of respecting his culture and religious beliefs, as I am sure he will afford you the same courtesy.

Thanks again for your letter. We truly appreciate it when folks like
you inform us of the proper way to do our job. Take good care of Ahmed
and good luck!

And I'm supposed to be concerned about this?

As far as I care they can be tossed out of the back of a C-130 over the middle of the ocean with no 'chute and a bag of bricks duct taped to their head so they land face first...
