Wasn't Nixon responsible for creating the EPA and OSHA?
So this is hearsay in a trade magazine, sourced to a person of dubious integrity who claims he heard it from a person he claims was a friend, who just so happens to be conveniently dead, quiet, and unable to confirm one way or another if he ever told this alleged friend any such thing, much less prove he knew what he was supposedly talking about when he allegedly said it.
And this is news?
Sounds like that bogus fantasy claim some reporter made when he claimed to have spoken with CIA director Casey on his deathbed, when in fact Casey couldn't speak at the time of the alleged conversation, and the hospital personnel said the reporter wasn't there.
Yes, Nixon was president and signed off on both.
You are correct about Nixon--he was very anti-Communist. For the most part, Nixon was very good re foreign affairs. I think very highly of Richard Nixon's foreign affairs efforts and accomplishments.
Unfortunately, he was, like George Herbert Walker Bush and George Bush, a socialist (fiscally). Great expansion in the growth of government occurred under all three of these Republican presidents. In all three cases, a greater percent increase in the expansion of social welfare programs occurred than under Carter or Clinton. Very tragic for this nation, and very tragic for the Republican party's reputation. We are no longer the party of "limited government". In fact, it is very rare to even hear mention of the words "limited government" in Republican speeches anymore.
Call me your roomie in the Cuckoo's Nest, because I absolutely agree with you.
I disagree with your premise that Kissinger and Nixon were ideologically aligned.
Kissinger was a reknown world mover and shaker weaving politics into economics -- NOT an American patriot by any stretch of the imagination. He's been anti-sovereingty. And who else could have gotten Nixon to meet Chinese leaders other than Kissinger? Wasn't that event strange in the least at the time?
I also believe Kissinger greased the skids for Nixon. Why?? Ford was a Rockefeller Pubbie -- a RINO. RINOs = Globalists. Gerald Ford was never meant to win in 1976. And we're STILL paying for Carter's anti-America policies, which wound up Globalist in nature, and thus detrimental to American sovereignty.
You lose...it was George Michael in a Santa Monica playground mens' room.
And of course like now, didn't tell anyone about the alleged, not to mention out of character conversation until Casey was conveniently dead and unable to counter the outrageous claim or defend himself...
Oh, my...
It couldn't be...
Surely he's more original than that...
No, it couldn't be, but it is...
One-Trick Pony ...
Woodward ?
..and that's the reason these bastards (B/W) are going after Kissinger, b/c he's the only high-level Nixon cabinet official alive...sorry w/ apologies to all frm. friends of Nixon ...except that B@$@$rt John "Scum of the Earth" Dean.
What's scary is, how many other things have they lied about... the things we *think* are true, never really were?
I get very very very angry when I think about how I've been misled in the past by these socialist liars. Joe McCarthy? VINDICATED! Republicans are Racist? We passed the 1964 Civil Rights Act! Republicans are Nazis? Hitler was a gun grabbing SOCIALIST!
Then there are lies of our current era, I was too smart to fall for (WMDs, Iraq and Al Qaeda, Bush bringing back the draft).
These people are the most dangerous, lying propagandists. They must be defeated.....NO MERCY!!
Double shame!
The article is from Media Matters, turncoat David Brock's site. I wouldn't believe a word from that hack's crap site.
Eric Burns of NewsWatch says he knows who it is - and it's not a man.
May she rest in peace.
I don't think that a figment of someone imagination ever dies a real death.
I think it was Kissinger.I thought I had heard he was not feeling well.
Fred Fielding
Wood-stein has said DT has left an explanation of why/what with his will, so both parties will confirm it.
This will stop any suspipcion it was made up, or they're blaming the wrong guy,etc.....
Agreed, it was not Kissinger, but your affinity for the notion that a Jew brought down the U.S. president who was elected by the largest absolute majority ever obtained in a U.S. presidential ection (more than 13 million votes) is likely to be realized when Mark Felt, now very ill and in his 90s -- and Nixon's own choice for 'Deep Throat' -- will be unveiled as 'Deep Throat'. Felt, like Bernstein, whose father was strongly leftist, and was a deeply committed Nixon hater, especially after Nixon nailed Alger Hiss for perjury, should both have been indicted themselves. Sirica chose to overlook Bernstein's efforts to tamper with his grand jury, and Woodstein should be hauled into court for obstructing justice by protecting Felt who reneged on his government oaths when he chose to aid their efforts to nail Nixon. Woodward has been very cagey in cultivating W's good will, knowing that Felt would likely die while W was in office and the question of prosecuting Woodstein for their conspiracy to obstruct justice in Felt's case might well surface.
Funny, I was just going to make a joke and suggest Ben Stein as Deep THroat. But I have read the letter Stein wrote to Nixon on the day of his resignation and, unless he was the most deceitful and two-faced young man in the Administration, it could NOT have been Ben Stein. I don't think DT is fictional either, or a literary (and then movie)
device manufactured by Woodstein. Kissinger doesn't quite make sense either---what would he have to gain by aiding and abetting two unknown journalists' objective of bringing down the Preaident he worked for? The point about this thing is, everyone who's come under scrutiny for being DT has denied it, and there were apparently VERY few people who were even aware a character like Deep Throat was doing what he was doing for Woodstein. Even a classic insider's insider like Erlichmann only has a "theory", but no actual proof.
Please read post number 58 in this thread. In reply to your mention that the'usual suspects' have issued denials, I would just note that Mark Felt hasn't denied it, and indeed, at the time of Woodward's visit on the occasion of Felt's last birthday, it was said that, for a time, Felt actually answered the phone by identifying himself as 'Deep Throat'. How much of this is true is difficult to assess, especially because, at Felt's advanced age, there could be diminished mental acuity. However, Felt's credentials for the role of DT are better than almost anyone else, and his sudden (and unexpected) dismissal by the FBI in the wake of Watergate is consistent with all else.
