"Confirmed on Fox" is an oxymoron.

NEIC (most reliable source) has a 6.5 quake off Sulawesi. It's in Indonesia but nowhere near Sumatra.

Offshore enough it likely hasn't had much effect on anything. And such quakes don't produce tsunamis.

Yes, I think that was scheduled for this weekend. I think they are to arrive in Sri Lanka on Sunday.

There have been an ENORMOUS number of aftershocks of the 9.3 quake off Sumatra.

This wasn't one of them though; totally different fault system and hundreds of miles away.

The area affected (and likely minimally affected) by this quake was completely unaffected by the 9.3 Quake and tsunami.

Wonder how much this one is gonna cost us?

Wonder if we will send the Abe Lincoln back to help after they told us to get lost a few weeks ago?

Anyway you know it's Bush's fault.

I heard it earlier. 6.9 is big. And it usually gets bigger depending on damage and length of the EQ. Hopefully, people have learned from the last EQ. The tsunamis are more of the killer than the EQ.

Thanks, other than a few right after the big one, I haven't heard anything mentioned of them. Too far out to be felt I guess.

Not really, In Banda-aceh, the damage was mostly from the quake, not the water. The entire city was largely destroyed by the quake if you look at the pics on the tsunami page. You can see from the pics how the water damaged the shorelines of some places, but because Banda-aceh was so close to the epicenter, the damage goes throughout the whole city. They kinda got it bad from both, it was completely leveled.

I stand corrected. I'm from So. Cal. and have been through a few big ones myself. Just going by experience, which is not always correct.

Since there are over 150 different volcanoes that have erupted in Indonesia within the last 10,000 years, almost everywhere in Indonesia is near a volcano. :-)

That's one thing I have never experienced, is what a quake feels like, I'm never in the right place at the right time. (which is probably a good thing) Other than feeling real big bombs going off, The earth beneath my feet has been stable.
