Radio Producer Could Always Count on 'Gannon' for Tips

San Antonio radio producer Susan Farris could always count on James Guckert, a.k.a. former White House correspondent Jeff Gannon, to pitch an appearance on the shows she produces at conservative talk station KTSA.

He was not only anxious about pushing his story of the day, but seemed to always have some kind of inside knowledge about the White House, as well.

"I said, 'How do you have such great sources?' and he just laughed it off," she told E&P Friday. "Now we all know how."

Farris, who has worked in San Antonio radio for more than a decade, said she came across Guckert first at GOPUSA.com, then later read his work on Talon News, his online home prior to his recent resignation. "I would call [GOPUSA] for people to use on the air and they suggested him when I asked about White House coverage," she recalled. "They called themselves a re-write service. They would take other people's work and put it up on their site." (Among the charges against Guckert was that he often simply rewrote White House press releases as news stories.)

Guckert, she said, frequently passed on what he clearly thought was insider information, during his 12 appearances on KTSA during 2003 and 2004. She first heard from him the expression "shock and awe" to refer to the massive U.S. bombing attack at the start of the Iraq war, and he fingered Mary Mapes as the producer of the so-called "Rathergate" segment on "60 Minutes" before she had seen that mentioned elsewhere.

"He very often called me and offered to be on the show to talk about his stories," she said. "I used to book him all the time. We used him on tons of White House stuff." She said she "had no idea" that Gannon was not Guckert's real name.

But why does this matter to his role as reporter ? I really don;t get it. I could see if he was an elected official of NJ using power to buy sex. I can understand if he was supposed to be a moral leader. I can understand if he was in a position where he could be in a position to be blackmailed.

But he is a reporter delivering news. Do I care if the photographer is a male whore ? No. Do I care if the guy delivering my newspaper hires hookers on the weekend ? No. Do I care if the talking head is cheating on his wife ? No.

Help me here. Why is this some sort of major scandal that requires energy on either side ?

I again must say that I am the stupidest Freeper on this thread. This whole thing is about as relevant of worrying about what color underwear Peter Jennings wears.

This Gannon character is an obvious degenerate pervert. No way should decent Christians be supporting his nastiness.

We should be very clear that he's not one of us, let's treat him like any other degenerate commie pervert who fantasises about pimping members of our glorious armed services.

He's a perverted degenerate. No decent Christian could condone his behaviour. We should tar and feather his ass.

I think you're quite correct. He's an obvious degenerate pervert and we should make every effort to dissociate from his perverted degeneracy. It's a total disgrace that he was able to slither into the White House reeking of anal lube.

Why does he need support ? All he did was report. Even satan can report, its my job to verify and discern.

Do you think he is the only degenerate reporter ? Are you proposing we establish a set of moral standards that reporters must have ? Who then sets those standards ? Who then sees they are maintained ? Do we have full time agents assigned ?

The natural consegqeunce is that I must have a full backqround check on every person that reports on anything I happen to read. Isn't that a bit overdone ?

Fair enough. I accept that correction. But I'm still very angry that this pervert has embarrassed the President.

This has nothing to do with family values. A reporter is a reporter, his private life is private, that is until the leftist haters choose to expose it. What you can not countenance is that homosexuality is a risky life style choice that can be changed. The fact is that Gannon's former life has no bearing on his reporting. It is the left that is hypocritical in this case. They are condemning this poor man because of of his homosexuality and his politics. It's sad that the left is so desperate for recognition that they will attack at will and destroy a man for his political leanings. Shame on them.

Brock was outed by the left, much as Gannon has been, but without all the feeding frenzy. I don't even know if I ever read about the details of Brock's outing, but I know that he decided that it was better join them if he could not fight them and switched sides. Possibly Brock resents that Gannon changed his life style rather switch sides. Who knows? It's disgusting what they have done to him, for the sake of political gain.

I think this has everything to do with family values. We have to dissociate ourselves from this degenerate. If Michael Jackson supported the President, we should still dissociate ourselves because we simply don't need the support of perverted degenerates. He's embarrassed the White House by slithering in there. He's embarrassed America's brave miliary by offering to pimp them. He's a disgrace.

The Gannon thing stinks - - it's the kind of thing I'd have expected from Clinton's White House (and I would have castigated them for it, along with most of the folks on this board).

Why? What, exactly, would the problem be with this happening in ANY White House? When this issue first broke, I was alarmed that a guy had seemingly gotten access to the White House using a false name, but once it was clear that the White House knew his real identity, what's the big deal? There are lots of reporters with agendas, and I'd bet there are lots with bizarre sexual practices. What does any of this have to do with the administration? I would not be castigating Clinton over an analogous situation.

Hmmmm... was Guckert on top of any of the White House staff? Or did they just use him to "service" them in a completely platonic way (by asking easy questions)? Either way, a prostitute is a prostitute.
