[1] Greer has already approved HINO's request to immediately cremate Terri upon her death. Again, this pertains to her religious beliefs, because the Catholic faith totally disapproves of cremation.

I'm sorry, but this is no longer the case. From the Catechism of the Catholic Church, Second Edition English Translation (includes the corrections promulgated by Pope John Paul II on 8 September 1997):

2301 Autopsies can be morally permitted for legal inquests or scientific research. The free gift of organs after death is legitimate and can be meritorious.

The Church permits cremation, provided that it does not demonstrate a denial of faith in the resurrection of the body.93

We spoke of this with our priest when my father died two years ago. The priest told us it was okay to cremate, but that scattering the ashes is forbidden. We were just curious as to what the teaching meant.
