I see. By split you mean splitting off conservative voters by pretending conservative values. I guess it could work, particularly if her opponent is moderate. I suspect her husband is advising her to do just that, since it worked for him.
Republicans largely split in '92 over taxes.
They didn't vote for Clinton in large number, but they split to perot or stayed home. Look for a third candidate to be promoted by the press if Hill is nominated. She'll make waves on immigration. Hoping to make that the straw that breaks the GOP back as "Read MY Lips" did in '92.
Too many varibles to know if that'll work a second time. I'm certain its the top strategy. Of course it's open to change if the political environment changes.
