If there is a problem with the guns distribution, that is the problem, not reporting about it.
They are trying to sway public input for the bill to ban .50 cal. weapons sales in the US. I NEVER watch CNN but was surfing and caught the segment .My answer to all their steps in buying the weapon on the internet and ammunition was so what .. The funny thing is you can check a weapon in your luggage but now they want the TSA to ban lighters and matches (even in your luggage).
Somehow I think it would be a lot harder to do than CNN reports it. After all it really isn't about the "ease" of buying one, it's their irrational fear of the weapon itself.
CNN's real agenda is to disarm America by "proving" that our right to buy arms is the root cause of potential terrorism. GUN LAWS MUST BE TIGHTENED. This is pure Ted ( Soviet Ted) Turner propaganda and yellow press
Unless you hit a critical component, it is very unlikely it would cause the airliner to crash.
You could be on the plane, and fire bullets all around you, and not cause the plane to crash.
Hitting an airliner with a .50 from the ground and causing it to crash, would deserve the TERRORIST OF THE YEAR AWARD.
Ducks have caused more crashes than .50 armor piercing bullets.
What CNN is doing...is creating a "documentary" for future gun-grab campaigns. And current advertisers are paying for it. And they will continue to do so, unless and until we stop buying their products.... This has very little to do with the black-market weapons trade and supplying terrorists. It has a lot to do with disarming U.S. Citizens....
Recall the Boeing Jumbo that took a direct hit to the thorax with a Soviet SA-11 MANPADS missile coming out of Baghdad Airport and shrugged it off, turning around to land safely though it could have flown the rest of the way to it's destination if required.
Now, a hail of .50 BMG rounds from a Korean War-era F-86 Sabre Jet would be a different story.
Still, a .50 round fired by some terrorist camped out in a bush in the flyover path at an international airport isn't at all likely to shoot down a passenger jet.
Can those at CNN now be arrested for supporting terrorism, because if this is not supporting terrorism, I don't know what is.
This shows which side of the fence CNN is fishing for viewers on. Heck, everyone knows a .50 can destroy a tank at 2 miles (sarcasm). I've heard that just shooting a .50 in the general direction of an enemy causes a rip in the space time continuum and extinguishes all life forms. Plus they are so portable and concealable. Drug dealers all carry them.
YO SELF - If you can't figure out what CNN is doin', then my advise to yo is, go buy yo'self a gun!
CNN is trying it's best to get the weapon banned. THATS what they are doing. None of the details of the report would be news to any terrorist wannabe.

So stupid that they were able to pull off flying two planes into the world trade center towers and one into the pentagon.
I'm usually the last to defend CNN, but the truth is many terrorists are highly educated individuals. By being in a sleeper cell for a number of years, they would have learned how to do this anyway. All CNN did was to expose a flaw in our security so that it could be fixed before it was exploited.
CNN is working for Jim Moran, D-VA, who is sponsoring a bill to ban the sale of this gun.
There is no reason to turn oneself inside out over it: shooting at and hitting a rapidly moving target (i.e. airplane) from a respectable distance is a non-trivial exercise and would take an atrocious amount of practice. In WWII and earlier multiple machine guns were used for the purpose, with the success rate (hits per rounds expended) being abominably low. And they had an advantage of using tracer rounds and correcting their aim in the process.
I don't "need" one. I don't want one. But now the're going to make me go out and get one!
