Iranian President Mohammad Khatami gave a speech:

He said: It will be impossible to establish democracy here without the help of Islam.

But he was thinking: "The people are going to kick my butt out and establish a democracy without Islam."

He said: Not only is it impossible to establish a non-religious democracy but we don't want it.

But he was thinking: Please don't kick us out.

He said: The majority of our society doesn't want it either.

But he was thinking: "If the majority didn't want democracy, why am I making this speech?"

Well-said.....what we are watching in near-live Technicolor is the death rattle of a dying and corrupt culture.
The facial expressions on most of the audience members in the video suggest to me not people who are enthusiastically embracing his words, but people who are filling seats because they and their families will be executed if they don't attend.

I hope that the Iranian people will heed our President's words from his last speech and accelerate the collapse of this opressive regime....I would love for Iran to be the next domino in the Democratic chain in the Middle East to fall. The Iranian people deserve far better than what they are being subjected to.
